French family

The attitude towards the family in France cannot be characterized unequivocally. On the one hand, due to modern trends that significantly devalued the role of the family in society, in France, as in many other European countries, the family is treated somewhat coolly. There are a lot of civil marriages, young people have been living together for a long time without signing or having children. This is the norm of modern society. On the other hand, the French are very in awe of the history of their family, they like to compose a genealogical tree, to learn unknown details of the life of their distant ancestors. Almost every Frenchman will easily and with great enthusiasm be able to tell you about the life of his family in France from the time of Louis and Queen Margot.

It often happens that numerous relatives of the French family live in the neighborhood and actively participate in each other's life, gather for general events, holidays, weddings, births, etc. However, the concept of his family for the Frenchman still includes, in accordance with the trends of modern society, only the closest: husband, wife and children. Children in French families do not always seek to leave their parental home after reaching adulthood. Often they live with their parents for a long time, and sometimes bring their other half to the house, and raise children with their parents.

French children grow up disciplined. Even as adults, they know that they cannot, for example, take a car without permission, manage in the house in the absence of the elders, disobey their parents and make friends behave the same way. French parents could be shocked by the freedom they give their children in the same England or America.

The head of the family in France is a husband, he must be an authority whom everyone obeys and society perceives him as such. Mother-in-law also plays a large role in the French family, the French call the husband's mother the second most important member of the family. She takes part in raising her grandchildren, gives advice, often zealously watches the behavior of her daughter-in-law.

Men in French families very often cook, it is not considered shameful, on the contrary, men like to please their home with something tasty and they do it well. French women, of course, categorically do not mind this state of affairs and in every way approve of the culinary abilities of husbands. If husbands cook, it is usually dinner, they perfectly combine basic dishes, snacks, desserts and various varieties of wines, which French dinner can not do without.

family in France is a completely closed system for other people's eyes. Here it is not customary to take sorrow from the hut, the French talk little about families, and do not talk about bad things in the family, in French society it is not customary to complain about personal life. Also, the French are quite liberated and easily relate to matters of sexual life, children learn about the intimate side of life quite early. Nevertheless, early sexual life is not welcome in society, contrary to the prevailing stereotypes about France and the French. There are many divorces in France, as in general in other developed countries, but divorce is condemned in society, since most marriages are consecrated by the church.

Thus, in France, the nuclear family prevails.
