The love story of Julia and Michael starts very emotionally for Julia

The love story of Julia and Michael starts very emotionally for Julia: she is impatient, she wants to get his love sooner and his inability to give it attracts her even more. She’s blindly in love with his beauty. Nevertheless, Michael seems incredibly indifferent to her at the beginning of the novel: we see his affection and kindness, but there is no passion and no rush.

Time passes and Michael comes to the decision to propose to Julia, and then he actually marries her. This makes her very happy, since she was longed for him. But I see their wedding as the happiest moment of her love for Michael (unless the very expectation of the unknown made her happier). Since then her feelings started to fade. Apparently the years she spent with him in uncertainty were even more pleasing to her, as she knew and imagined the happy life they would have in marriage.
In fact, everything turned out to be completely different. Maybe it was the war that changed him, or maybe the war changed her; maybe she was waiting for him to change after they married, or maybe this was pregnancy; maybe she just lost the habit of him or resigned herself to his possible death. But in one moment she suddenly realized that she doesn’t want him anymore. Could this happen if she didn’t get him in the first place?

It seems to me that Julia's feelings for Michael were changing from delighted passion to sense of reliability through their life together (or even to habit and annoyance). And Michael found a comfortable companion in Julia.
Eventually, Julia found the strength to be alone with herself, she gained independence. She has come such a long way of love, but it seems that she has done it alone.
